Community Project for 3rd and 1st Eccles Scouts
The 3rd/1st Eccles Scouts are about to undertake a community project to tidy up the forecourt of Patricroft station and the adjacent footpath.

They will be assisting the Friends of Patricroft Station (FROPS) in their efforts to improve the station environment and, at the same time, working towards their community challenge badge.

The hut where the scouts meet is at the end of Watson Street, off Cromwell Road, and adjoins the footpath to the station. FrOPS are delighted to have such co-operative neighbours.

3rd/1st Eccles scouts started in 1946 as 1st Eccles, the 3rd part being the "phoenix" rising, literally from the ashes of 2 fires previously started by arsonists in 2 former "homes".

It is now a thriving group with a full scout troop, cub pack and Beaver section and is proud of its community involvement at local, national and international level.

They do welcome new recruits whose age ranges from 6 to 14, from then they move to a dynamic district explorer team based at Middlewood!

The scouts will be at the station on Sat 11 Feb between 10.00 and 12.00 when they will be clearing the footpath, planting bulbs and tidying up the surroundings.
