Get Awkward—it hits the spot
By Joe Conboy

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS research and funding received a boost from a major fashion house when DKNY pledged money to the MS Society after one of the fashion house's staff was affected by MS.
Marlo Donato Parmelee has written a "candid, humorous and inspirational" book, Awkward Bitch: My Life with MS, about her diagnosis in 2004 at the age of 32.
The book was launched at DKNY on King Street, Manchester this year. Each sale earns 10 per cent for the MS Society.
Marlo asserts: "I fight MS out of spite, as I refuse to let something stop me from doing what I want to do."
Marlo tells her story of learning she has MS and her life since. Life with MS is just different and it's made her stronger.
Her journey is painful but also inspirational, making the book important to read. It educates readers about the condition.
Marlo is already looking at writing a follow up and is eager to write a fictional story soon.
