Salford election count at 3am
by Tom Rodgers

Biggest story so far? Hazel Blears has just arrived. There are five outside broadcast camera crews here (ITV/BBC) and all have their cameras trained on Hazel.

All the journos are clustering around her, with Neal Keeling (MEN) talking to her press secretary.

Apparently (rumours via Twitter) a win with a reduced majority is on the cards for Hazel Blears in Salford and Eccles.

For about 10 minutes after she arrived Hazel appeared to be hiding from the cameras and keeping a low profile but the BBC asked for a "clear shot" along with about 10 freelance photographers (for whom the only real story is Hazel Blears).

Norman Owen is still confident that the Lib Dems have nicked Salford and Eccles, he tell me, but we're nowhere near results time yet.

At least another hour to go. Not much more to report, poll slips have not been started 'bundling' (where they sort them into piles of 50) yet, so we still know very little about the count.
