Fame awaits for deep fried Eccles Cake

Not only have these deep fried delicacies been the subject of two SalfordOnline videos and sold out at the Eccles Shop Local, now the sweet treats are getting the attention of the region's mainstream press.

Granada TV will be filming in Eccles this morning, for a start.

XFM breakfast presenter Tim Cocker today brought up the cakes on his morning show today in a list of 'things he's thankful for'.

Linda Whittaker, of Whittaker's chippy on Church Street "shifted boxes and boxes" of Eccles Fritters at the recent Shop Local event on Saturday in Eccles.

The general public seemed very enamoured of them as well, especially when served with sweet raspberry sauce.

Here's our vote to see the dessert cakes mass-produced alongside the classic Eccles Cake.
