I think people should put a name to their comments!! Carol is my MUM and she has not lost the plot!! There is a drugs epidemic across the country but because there are sad pathetic people in this world that just want to bad mouth those people trying to make an honest living they cannot see the bigger picture. I cannot state how angry I am when my mum has struggled and worked hard over the past 15 years that she has been running pubs in Eccles. She is working with the police to crack down on the drug takers/dealers in the pub but other than sit in the mens toilets all night what can she do??? The oddies are already cheap and cannot compete with the prices of the nags or wetherspoons and will not be shutting contrary to the snidey second hand rumours on this blog. I think Steph M should have some balls and come to a pub watch meeting and voice your 'concerns' with the police and other publicans. My mum did NOT run Finns into the ground, she left with NOTHING because the trade had gone. Your an sad pathetic nasty person!! Stand up and be counted Steph, because if you do not frequent the pub any more how would you know what was going on??? I will post a meeting for the pub watch as i can see you are so concerned and then you can say your peice without hiding behind a computer!!

Comment by Guest  31st July 2010
If all this is true, and I can believe it surely the police must be informed or at least be aware.
Comment by Guest  31st July 2010
disgusted last night, queueing up at the toilets for cocaine and snorting it off the cistern in the ODDIES,all from well known drug dealers why have doormen if they allow this? i wish the police would use sniffer dogs etc to stop this,or the place should be shut down
Comment by Guest  30th July 2010

Comment by Guest  30th July 2010

Comment by Guest  29th July 2010
Lot of rumours going around Eccles that the closure of the Grapes pub was linked to a huge cocaine ring being bust in England by the customs, any body heard the same?
Comment by Guest  29th July 2010
reckon paul would give yanks a run for there money he aint behind the door
Comment by Guest  29th July 2010
The wetherspoons now opens at 0700 am every morning , changed a few weeks ago.
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
its the american who owns the place now, not quinny
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
early door lushes will be heading straight for the town hall that opens at 8, wethers that open at 9, you can watch the rough uns from the grapes, keys n wethers lining up at 7-45
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
people have the chance to do something with the pubs if they were only brave enough to pull out some money and make the effort. all you people who just sit at your keyboards moaning about pubs day in, day out should just get off your backsides and do something about it instead of moaning like old women!! its always the people who are trying to make something of the town that get slagged off
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
its a dump so,s the townhall quinns think they can buy everything in the town he was just a doorman now he owns half the place give some 1 else a chance
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
i dont know who keeps talkin rubbish about the crosskeys struggling and will be the next pub to shut?? the crosskeys has only been open for 5 months and is going from strength to strength each and ever week. the crosskeys is here for the long run so instead of putting the pubs in the town down, try showing a buit of support for the ones who are funding the pubs to keep them going for you, THE CUSTOMERS!!!!
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
The Grapes Church Street closed its doors today, where are the wandering early door lushes going to go?, its obvious innit, The Cross Keys. The last resort for the less discerning ale can, the odds please on this being the next one to shut.
Comment by Guest  28th July 2010

Comment by Guest  28th July 2010
Was it working there?.
Comment by Guest  27th July 2010

Comment by Guest  27th July 2010
Sadly it is still a dump, I went in at weekend, what were the young kids outside smoking..Woodbines?. The beer/lager is really dear and the atmosphere isn't pleasant, its a pub tailored for young 'uns who have a bad attitude, sorry but thats the truth.
Comment by Guest  27th July 2010
fair play to them the keys was buzzing in the late 80,s early 90,s when rob and quinny worked there that busy it was 1 in 1 out after 9 oclock no 1 messed around in there cos 1nce you were barred that was that hope you do well there girls
Comment by Guest  27th July 2010
now who wuda thought that the 2 blondes from the grapes wud b able 2 open their own pub AND b successfull? Guess it realy aint true bout blonds bein thick. u gotta give em credit, the keys is doin gud!
Comment by Guest  27th July 2010
Just to clarify a few points.... first of all the CrossKeys is not full of "rough uns" as previously quoted by some mis-guided person...SECONDLY...WE ARE NOT STRUGGLING unlike other venues in the town and most importantly, like it or not...WE ARE HERE TO STAY!!!!!! Its true what they say though - Eccles really is the talking town.

Comment by Guest  27th July 2010

Comment by Guest  27th July 2010
CROSSKEYS TO SHUT AND FULL OFF ROUGH UNS????? IM A LANDLORD IN ECCLES AND FREQUENT THE CROSSKEYS MYSELF, THE PLACE IS GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGH, THE WHOLE BUILDING HAD BEEN OPENED UP AND IS NOW ONE OF THE BUSIEST IN ECCLES, THAT IS WHY THE TOP HOUSE AND GRAPES ARE CLOSED, CROSSKEYS HAVE TAKEN THEIR BUSINESS, AND AS A PUB WATCH MEMBER CAN OFFICIALLY SAY THERE ARE NO ROUGH UNS AND UNLIKE MOST PUBS HAS NEVER HAD A INCIDENT WHERE POLICE HAVE BEEN CALLED, WELL DONE GIRLS,
Comment by Guest  26th July 2010

Comment by Guest  26th July 2010
The Salford Mongs, are they a local band?. However The Town Hall will be staying open on a Friday night until 10pm due to popular demand rather than shutting at 8pm, you show 'em Paul.
Comment by Guest  24th July 2010

Comment by Guest  24th July 2010

Comment by Guest  20th July 2010
The Top House is shut, The Grapes shuts this week and next in the pack of dominoes to collapse will be the Cross Keys, full of rough 'uns, as for the Oddies we shall see unless they drop their prices. Dog and Partridge shut as well, shop in Aldi its cheaper and safer.

Comment by Guest  18th July 2010
The bottom line is that there are too many pubs and not enough customers
Comment by Guest  18th July 2010

Comment by Guest  18th July 2010
there will only be a handfull of pubs left soon the top house the oddys the grapes are all closing the cross keys is struggling the place will be a ghost town for pubs soon such a shame that this 1nce great pub town has barely any pubs left
Comment by Guest  18th July 2010
Salford city council would like to see all pubs in Salford closed,so they can sell the ground for homes.
