Is 'Thiepval Day' July 1st still remembered in Salford?

I recall the people of salford remembering the lads of the Salford Pals, (15th Lancashire Fusilers) who all died on 1st July 1916,during the 1950's.

Thiepval is mentioned on several war memorials, perhaps it was remembered after the first war, I assusume that the dead from both wars are remembered at the cenotaphs on Rememberance Sunday throughout the city rather than individual battles no matter how horrific or number of casualties.

First day of the somme, 1st July 1916. 20000 dead and 37000 injured. Of the salford regiments, salford pals were involved at thiepval and alone had around 500 dead. all on one day.
