Happy birthday Bob Dylan
Well, Bob Dylan has reached the age of 70 and shows no sign of letting up on his never ending tour, he is arguably the greatest songwriter ever and has a staggering back catalogue of work.

Here is just a sample of what Bob has produced in his fifty years or so of performing and songwriting 34 studio albums, more than 500 songs and 3000 concerts, dozens of awards, 11 Grammys, an Oscar, two doctorates and several nominations for the Nobel Literature Prize.

One of his most famous concerts was held at the Free Trade Hall, Manchester in May 1966 when an irate heckler shouted out Judas! at Dylan, his sin?, daring to plug in his electric guitar.

His response was, "I don't believe you, your a liar", he turned to his band and urged them, "Play loud, play ******* loud"! and launched into, Like a Rolling Stone, the rest is history.

Sadly I wasn't at that gig but if you believe everybody who says they were there it must have been going on for 50,000, I know two, CP Lee and Chris Carson.

I did see Dylan at the Isle of Wight Festival in 1969, his big comeback after his motorcycle accident, then various times over the years, and finally at Liverpool Arena two years ago.

I have to admit my small part in setting up Salford Salutes Dylan with Chris Carson and Ian Bent, a series of musical charity events featuring local bands all singing Dylan songs or their interpretations, with all money going to children's charities in Salford, and let us not forget the stunning posters made by Ric Gibbs for the shows.

So let us raise a glass to Bob and wish him many more years and may he stay forever young.
