Received from Sean McGonigle
Probably the easiest ride of the lot to finish. For the first time the wind didn't blow too strong. Given the prominence of both John O Groats and Lands End they really are two of the most disappointingly anti climactic places you could wish to go to. At least Lands End has something there! We timed it well for once - the rain started to come in from the Atlantic and it got appreciably colder, so we didn't hang around other than to do the obligatory photo shoot. We again avoided paying a bloke with the official sign a preposerous amount of money (£15) to have our photo taken with it. Just had only the second bath of the trip (sorry Johnny but you did bugger all work at the front of our mini peleton over the last four days so it serves you right!). And finally a word for two people who made it all worthwhile and one who wasn't able to make it. Gary Gregory has to be seen (and unfortunately heard) to be believed. He doesn't stop, ever, not for a moment, and is the biggest wind up merchant you will ever meet. He also organised a brilliant route expertly, sourced great places to stay (as well as a couple of dodgy ones!), scrounged huge quantities of sweets and other foodstuffs as well as a fair few free breakfasts. He really is unique, thankfully. Thanks also to the best butler since Hudson in Upstairs Downstairs. Mr Nutburn was more than a man with van - no job too big. He was an angel sent to provide tea, coffee and sweet treats every single (apart from one) morning. Lastly to Lee, who was responsible for me, Jules and Johnny joining the trip but whose seriously ill father meant he had to miss out. It will still be here next year Lee!
