Lowry Outlet Mall reports record sales
New reports from the Lowry Outlet Mall indicate the shopping centre has produced its highest ever sales in 2011.

The news contrasts sharply with overall sales figures from retailers throughout the UK this year.

A report from the Mall notes that year-on-year 'footfall' figures are up 9% compared to 2010, with a total 4.7 million customers coming through the door.

Total sales were up by 7 per cent compared to 2010.

The strongest performing categories were homeware, up 26.7 per cent, and fashion, for which sales increased by 19 per cent.

Bosses put the Mall's success down to two points: a boost in its weekend visitors due to the proximity of MediaCityUK and a new loyalty discounts scheme, which is targeted at local residents and workers.

New openings also include Yankee Candle, Tefal, MBT (Footwear), Edinburgh Woollen Mill, M&S Outlet for Furniture and Harvester Restaurant.

Robert Hallworth, Centre Manager says: “The Lowry Outlet Mall performed incredibly well in 2011, in terms of both footfall and sales. The Mall’s diverse retail and leisure offering has proved invaluable in continuing to appeal to our loyal customer base, as well as attracting those who are new to the region.

"And, with new openings, huge developments and increasing interest in the area, we’re defying the current economic climate and are increasing the margins of growth repeatedly in both footfall and sales. The future really does look bright for the Lowry Outlet Mall.”
