Miller Homes' Bill Hughes Wins Coveted Supreme Award - For A Fifth Time!
Miller Homes site manager Bill Hughes has made a brilliant start to the New Year by clinching the Supreme Award at the NHBC 'Pride in the Job' national competition on Friday 13th January – for the fifth time. Bill was presented with his award in the hotly contested Large Builder category at a glittering ceremony in London, in what has become known as the Oscars of the house building industry. The coveted Supreme Award from the NHBC [National House Building Council] is the highest accolade given by the construction industry and ensures high build quality benefiting both new home-owners and house builders. Bill has previously won a Supreme Award four years in a row from 2003 to 2006 and was runner-up in 2008 and 2009. This fifth Supreme Award win means Bill has won the title more times than any other contestant in the Large Builder category. Over 13,000 site managers working on NHBC registered sites are automatically entered into the competition with judging taking place over an extended 18 month period to fully assess every site manager. For the 2011 awards judging started in July 2010. To gain a place in the finals on Friday, Bill won a Quality Award in June, a Seal of Excellence award in September and went on to become a regional finalist for the seventh time. The awards are the hallmark of quality in house building rewarding the very highest standards of site management. This year Miller Homes had three site managers competing for Supreme Awards, in both the Large Builder and Multistorey categories. This is more than any other house builder achieved and affirms Miller Homes commitment to quality. Bill, who was born in Liverpool and now lives in Warrington, was competing against eight other regional finalists in the Large Builder category. Bill said: “I’m thrilled to have won this award for the fifth time. It’s a testament to the high quality of workmanship, site safety and management that Miller Homes demand in all their new build developments. It is as much a reflection on the quality of my team as it is on me.” Chris Endsor, Chief Executive of Miller Homes, said: “We are all thrilled for Bill – this is a truly unrivalled and unique achievement. Winning the category is apt recognition for all his hard work, efforts and dedication to excellence at all times. The fact that Bill has won this fantastic industry award category five times is an incredible achievement. “Pride in the Job recognition within the house building industry is something which we all strive for. This year we have been fortunate to have three finalists in the running for the Supreme title and their achievements reinforce the exceptionally high standards adopted by Miller Homes, giving our customers the confidence that their homes are being built by award winning site managers.
