Oakwood Academy, Salford Sports awards 2012

The new Salford city stadium was the host venue for Oakwoods latest star spangled event. A huge crowd of parents, pupils, past pupils and teachers packed into the Cadishead suite, overlooking the pitch to hear this year’s nominations.

Judges had agonised over the winners for the 2012 awards and the final results couldn’t have been any closer. It was that extra ounce of effort and determination that finally swayed the judges and decided the winners. After everyone had enjoyed a fantastic meal of pies, chips and peas, Oakwood were proud to announce the following:

Connor Davenport

School sports most improved performer of the year award

Matthew Chapman

Community Sports performer of the year award

Jack Winder

Community sports improved performer of th year award

Reece Winard

Oakwood FC Under 16’s

Sport at Oakwood is highly important to both the organisations and young people. We aim to make taking part in sport an integral part of the lives of our young people”

The event was made possible by two local organiseations sponsoring the event. Salford Software, who earlier in the year sponsored the football teams kit and Salford YFC were proud sponsors and also gave out trophies on the night along with local councilor Lisa Stone.

Paul Beaumont CEO of Salford Sofware said “What a fantastic night! The young people at Oakwood really are inspirational and we hope to have more links with the school and youth club in the future”
