Video: Ordsall asks for more - Ollie Wiva Twist
by Tom Rodgers

55 young people from Ordsall and Langworthy are taking a musical classic and giving it a spin.

Ollie Wiva Twist features original music and choreography, using music that came out of workshops Salford Foundation produced with young people.

Over 100 young people have been involved.

They'll take their version of Oliver! to the Lowry in August - only this time the story is based not on a London orphan but a street gang from Salford.

The stage show will feature pupils from Buile Hill, the Albion High School and Oasis MediaCityUK and hopes to change negative sterotypes of young people from Salford.

Fagin is still the leader of the gang and Ollie is still the unsuspecting member, Will Fagin review his situation and turn his back on his history of crime? Will Ollie be able to change the youths in the gang?

With only 4 weeks to go until Ollie Wiva Twist, the pressure was on to get the lines learnt and the dance routines perfect.

All of the young people we interviewed seemed to be enjoying themselves immensely in this production, despite the stress!

Ollie Wiva Twist hits the stage on August 25 at 7pm at the Lowry Theatre. You can buy tickets either from the Lowry itself or call the Salford Foundation on 0161 787 8500.
