The circus is coming to Irlam
Salford City Council has added another date to its hugely successful Cirque de Salford tour. It will be visiting Princess Park, Liverpool Road, Irlam on bank holiday Monday 30 August at 12pm. The new date has been arranged to promote the launch of the 'Better off in Salford' campaign in Irlam and Cadishead. Throughout the summer, Cirque du Salford has been visiting neighbourhoods around the city to give Salfordians the chance to enjoy an enthralling live show and also talk to members of the ‘Better off in Salford’ team about all the help and support that they can access in their neighbourhood. The circus cast includes fortune tellers, face painters, hula hoopers, a ring master and a magician. After the show, the audience is invited back stage to meet the cast and enter the world of the travelling circus. There are also opportunities to have a go at circus skills like hula hooping, balancing and spinning poi. The 'Better off in Salford' team is a made up of representatives from information, advice and guidance agencies and organisations from across Salford who have joined forces in a pioneering project to provide residents with a comprehensive one-stop-shop for services. Event goers can get advice and information on anything from money worries, classes or fun things to do with children, getting a job, sorting out childcare and claiming benefits or tax credits. Leader of Salford City Council, Cllr John Merry, commented: “This is a fun event but with the serious aim of helping to guide people through the services that are available to them in the city to ensure they are getting the support they need.” Circus events have already taken place in Brookhouse, Little Hulton, Eccles, Ordsall and Swinton. Future dates include: • 29 August, Salford Show, Buile Hill Park, off Eccles Old Rd. 12pm • 30 August, Princess Park, Liverpool Road, Irlam. 12pm • 4 September, Broughton Festival, Albert Park, access via Grecian Street. 12pm Source: Salford Council Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
