Greater Manchester …… Love Your Leftovers!
Come and join in a giant free cookery class this December, as the Greater Manchester Love Food Hate Waste campaign invites you to learn how to cook a simple, tasty and cheap meal using those leftover ingredients. TV Chef Dave Mooney, Granada Tonight’s resident Chef for over two years, will be leading each of the classes. Greater Manchester residents are invited to brush up on their kitchen skills with Dave, who has worked under the culinary greats Raymond Blanc and Marco Pierre White. All equipment and ingredients will be provided for the lessons and everyone will get to eat the dish they cook. Advice will be offered on how to save up to £50 a month and a food rescue pack will be given to each person, which includes the latest Love Food Hate Waste 2011 kitchen calendar and exciting recipes to use up those leftovers. With up to 1,000 places available, the events, which will run across Greater Manchester, will truly encapsulate what Love Food Hate Waste is all about. Councillor Neil Swannick, Chair of GMWDA said: “The events are a fantastic idea and will help us all to save money and protect the environment. Our longer term aim is to move as close as possible to zero waste to landfill and it is exciting initiatives like loving your leftovers, which will help towards achieving this.” Celebrity Chef Dave Mooney commented: “I am delighted to be leading the cookery lessons and Love Food Hate Waste is such a great concept which everyone can get involved in. I am sure the events will be good fun and a great way for people to learn to love their leftovers.” Each event will run four live cookery classes and people are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. The events are open to all Greater Manchester residents over the age of 16 and group bookings are welcome. The four classes available during each day will take place at: 9:30 am to 11:30 am; 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm; 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm; 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
