Salford Art Club Annual Exhibition 2012
Salford Museum & Art Gallery from 28 January to 22 April 2012
Salford Art Club’s 63rd annual exhibition will be held at Salford Museum & Art Gallery and will be opened by The Mayor of Salford, Councillor Eric Burgoyne. Along with a selection of the best recent work produced by club members in a mixture of media, styles and disciplines there will be a Lowry and Geoffrey Keys on display. The theme of the exhibition will be ‘Bridges and Water’, reflecting both the 250th Anniversary of the opening of the Bridgewater Canal and the popularity of these subjects. The annual exhibition provides the opportunity for visitors to appreciate, and buy, a wide variety of work in different mediums and styles. The club has many professional artists as members as well as many enthusiastic and talented amateurs and the work on display is always of a high standard. To contribute to the theme of the exhibition Lowry’s painting “Yachts”, on loan from The Lowry, will be on display. This year we will also include a work from the Salford Museum and Art Gallery collection entitled "Summer Park" by our president Geoffrey Key, and also a tribute to former Committee member, Betty Murray who died in May last year.
