Youngsters combat Prince's Trust Programme

Around 50 young people have every reason to celebrate after successfully completing a 12 week Prince’s Trust programme that could help change their lives forever.

The programme, now in its tenth year, is run by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service in partnership with the Prince's Trust and helps unemployed young people aged between 16-25 to gain new skills and qualifications, increasing employment and opening up opportunities for the future.

The scheme covers a number of topics from community safety issues and road safety, to good citizenship values and team working.

County Fire Officer and Chief Executive Steve McGuirk said: “The Prince’s Trust Programme offers a great opportunity for young people to change their lives around.

“We have seen many positive outcomes over the years, including Eddie Afekafe - who fulfilled his dreams by securing the job of Social Inclusion Manager with Manchester City Football Club.”
