Fire and Rescue Service thank supporters of the National Car Wash
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service would like to send a message of thanks to the public of Greater Manchester who supported the Fire Fighters Charity National Car Wash events which took place over the weekends of 20/21 and 27/28 March.

An amazing amount totalling almost £20,000 was raised within Greater Manchester for the charity which supports the fire fighting community and their dependants in times of need throughout the UK.

The event saw staff from all departments within the Service pull together throughout the day with many giving up their weekends to make the event such a success.

The Fire Fighters Charity has three dedicated centres in the UK providing physiotherapy services, rehabilitation and recuperation for both serving and retired Fire and Rescue personnel. The money raised will provide support to ensure Firefighters can continue to access these centres.

Deputy County Fire Officer Kieran Nolan said “The continued support that the charity receives from members of the public is extremely valued by all within our Service. I would like to extend sincere thanks, on behalf of the Fire Fighters Charity, to both the public of Greater Manchester and our staff for their outstanding efforts.”

In addition to having their cars washed thousands of people were also able to receive essential fire safety advice on the day from fire crews and a large number took the opportunity to book a free Home Fire Risk Assessment.
