Chip pan causes Higher Broughton fire
Two people in Higher Broughton were sent to hospital yesterday after a chip pan fire. Firefighters from Salford and Broughton arrived at Floral Court on Bury New Road at 4.20 on Tuesday morning to find a chip pan, but the fire actually out. A man and a woman were sent to Salford Royal hospital after being treated for the effects of smoke. Both were discharged later the same day. Despite the messages going out from the fire service that chip pans are dangerous when left unattended, firefighters are still being called to fires around the city. Bosses are urging people to be careful when using equipment like chip pans. Three fire crews, from Salford and Broughton, were mobilised and on their arrival at the property found that a chip pan fire had occurred but was out. Thankfully, the fire only caused damage to the chip pan and its contents and fire crews were able to remove smoke from the property using a Positive Pressure Fan.
