Fire Service award for long serving members

Fire Service award for long serving members
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service recently honoured 16 of its uniformed officers with the Fire Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medals.

The Queen awards the medal to those members of the Brigade who have completed 20 years ‘Exemplary Fire Service’.


The medals were presented by

Mr Warren J Smith JP, Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester.

In the presence of


Steve McGuirk CBE, QFSM, MA BA (Hons) BSc, FRSA, FIFireE.
County Fire Officer & Chief Executive

And

Councillor Paul Shannon
Chairman of the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority


Crew Commander Karl Stott
Karl joined the Fire Service in January 1990 and was posted to Salford fire station.
Karl was promoted to Crew Commander at Salford in January 2007 and is currently working as a Watch Commander at Agecroft fire station.

Watch Commander Tim Eaton
Tim joined the Fire Service in January 1990 and was posted to Blackley fire station, he remained at Blackley until April 2001 when he was promoted to Crew Commander at Philips Park fire station. Promotion to Watch Commander in January 2002 and he currently serves at Whitefield fire station.

Firefighter Jon Gosling
Jon joined the fire service in January 1990 and was posted to Ashton under Lyne fire station, Jon has remained at Ashton fire station throughout his career.

Watch Manager Matt Keogh
Matt began his career in the Fire Service in January 1990 and was posted to Gorton fire station where he stayed for over 10 years until his first promotion to Salford in 2001. In 2004 Matt was seconded to the Fire Service College at Moreton-In-Marsh where he remained until 2008 when he was promoted to Watch Manager at Salford fire station.
Matt is also been a member of the UK Search and Rescue Team which has seen him be deployed to overseas emergencies including Turkey, Macedonia, India and Algeria.
