GMFRS attends Hazardous Materials incidents
This afternoon Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to assist at two incidents where separate individuals have come into contact with an unknown powder.

At the first incident at 15:27 hrs firefighters were called to assist in the Accident and Emergency Department of North Manchester General Hospital where a man had arrived with an unknown material on his person, in the form of a powder.

As a precaution the Accident and Emergency Department was temporarily closed- until the nature of the material could be confirmed.

At the second incident at 16:06 hrs fire crews were called an incident at Collyhurst Police Station to assist GMP with a man who had walked in the building, again with an unknown material on his person in the form of a powder.

Fire crews attended both incidents, supported by specialist hazardous materials officers – who determined the powder was non hazardous.
