Broughton wash a success
Salford firefighters have said a huge thank you to all those who got their vehicles washed at a fire station over the weekend as part of National Car Wash Day.

The event saw staff from across Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service raise thousands of valuable pounds for The Fire Fighters Charity.

This event also provided an opportunity for people in the community to meet and have a chat with their local firefighters about keeping their homes safe from fire.

The money raised will help the fire fighting community with any support and assistance and help towards the continued good work offered by the UK centres in Cumbria, Devon and West Sussex - which offer varying combinations of therapy and recuperation services for all fire service staff.

County Fire Officer and Chief Executive Steve McGuirk said: “The continued support that the Charity offers is extremely valued by all members of staff and I would like to extend my sincere thanks, on behalf of The Fire Fighters Charity, to both the people of Greater Manchester and our staff for their brilliant efforts over the weekend. There is still time to boost the funds raised by calling into one of our car washes this weekend.”

Events this weekend will take place between 10am and 4pm at:

- Heywood Fire Station - Saturday, September 24

- Rochdale, opposite Tesco - Saturday, September 24

- Blackley Fire Station - Sunday, September 25
