Man rescued from fire in Salford
A man had a lucky escape from a kitchen fire in his Salford home.

Fortunately smoke alarms fitted by Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service earlier this year alerted neighbours who called emergency services.

Fire crews were called to Bury New Road at around 9pm and found a pan of food had caught light in the kitchen of a flat.

The resident, a 42-year-old, was carried to safety by firefighters.

The fire was quickly made safe by crews, who were at the scene for half an hour.

The incident has led to a reminder from firefighters - never leave food unattended, even for a second.
