Elderly Eccles man suffers burns in fire
Fire crews from Eccles station were called to a block of flats on Half Edge Lane after reports of a domestic fire. Shortly after 9am on Tuesday morning crews arrived at the sheltered housing in Ellesmere Park to find one elderly man suffering from burns to both hands. The fire at Monica Court was started by a faulty microwave, say Greater Manchester Fire. The man declined hospital treatment and no-one else was hurt in the incident.
