Firefighters dealt with 10 kitchen fires around Greater Manchester over the weekend.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people of the importance of safety in the kitchen in the wake of the fires.

Some useful tips include: do not take attention off cooking and try to avoid cooking after drinking alcohol.

INCIDENTS

At 12.45pm on Friday, January 13, two fire engines from Rochdale Fire Station were called to Bentmeadows.

A cooker and cupboard in the kitchen of a house was ablaze, firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish it and a fan to clear the smoke.

A 69-year-old man was suffering slightly from the effects of smoke but did not want to go to hospital.

Two fire engines from Oldham and one from Hollins fire stations were called to White Bank Road, Oldham, at 11.25pm on Friday, January 13.
Firefighters found a chip pan was on fire in a flat on the first floor.

Two men and a woman were suffering from the effects of smoke and treated by paramedics at the scene.

Just four minutes after the Oldham fire, two fire engines from Moss Side and Withington were called to a fire involving an oven at student accommodation on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze and used a fan to clear the smoke.

No one was injured in the fire.

Just before 5pm on Saturday, January 14, firefighters from Wigan and Hindley stations were called to Wigan Road, Hindley.
They found a fire in the kitchen of an upstairs flat and two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze.

A 42-year-old man was given oxygen at the scene by firefighters.

Three engines from Moss Side and Salford stations were called to a fire in the kitchen of a third floor flat of student accommodation on Booth Street West, Moss Side, at 7.45pm the same day.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus used a jet to put the fire out.

Two crews from Blackley Fire Station were called to Wince Brook Court, Brimshaw Lane, Middleton, at 11.45pm that night.
The fire involved a pan of food on the cooker and was out by the time they arrived so firefighters carried out a Home Safety Check while they were there.

Three engines from Moss Side and Stretford went to a fire involving a pan of food at a house on Beech road, Moss Side, at 3.20am on Sunday, January 15,.
A man and woman were given oxygen by firefighters at the scene.

At 1.15pm that day, a crew from Whitefield Fire Station went to Mather Road, Whitefield, and dealt with a fire involving food in an electric oven.
A 77-year-old man was suffering from the effects of smoke but declined the offer of treatment at the scene.

Food on a cooker led to crews from Withington and Moss Side going to Delacourt Road, Withington, at 7.15pm that day.
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the fire and led a man to safety, who was given oxygen.

A late night craving for chips led to a fire in a house in Oldham after the woman cooking them fell asleep.
Two crews from Oldham Fire Station went out to the fire at Oban Avenue at 11.25pm on Sunday, January 15.

The woman had got out of the house by the time crews arrived. Two firefighters in breathing apparatus went in, put the fire out with foam and rescued the woman's cat.

The woman was given oxygen by firefighters at the scene and they then did a Home Safety Check for her and fitted smoke alarms.
