Bogus water board officials 'active in Salford area'

Police are warning residents to be aware when answering the door after a series of robberies involving fake officials knocking at the door.

On 29th January bogus water board officials committed a burglary in Ordsall.

Two offenders approached the front of the property, knocked on the door and told the elderly female occupant they were from the waterboard. They stated to her that she needed to draw water because of a burst pipe nearby.

The offenders then told her to go upstairs and turn the taps on. While she was away the offenders stole cash from the living room and fled the scene.

Offender one was a white male, late 20s to early 30s, around 6 foot tall, slim build, wearing dark blue uniform with jumper and pants and the victim noted that he had a local accent.

Offender two was a white male, 6'1 tall, with a round face and a mop of black hair, about 28yrs-30yrs old, slim build, clean shaven, again with a local accent, wearing a dark coloured waist length jacket and dark pants.

Please get in touch with police on 0161 872 5050 if you have any information.
