   Making the grade
One of the most recognisable members of Greater Manchester Police, this week joins his new partner. Police horse Warwick is a striking brown and white horse, known as a skewbald, and has an eye-catching ‘moustache’. He is the only skewbald horse in Greater Manchester Police’s mounted unit. WARWICK AND PC CHERYL WILLIAMS The eight-year-old Shire cross now stands 17 hands tall and joins PC Cheryl Williams who has just passed her intermediate grading and is taking on training the ‘rookie’. Inspector Jon Hornby, of GMP Mounted Unit, said: “Warwick is a really identifiable horse when he is on patrol as he has such distinctive markings. He is a natural police horse with a confident and calm outlook on life. “He hadn’t done much before joining GMP and his success to date is due to the work of the training staff here. “Cheryl will now be responsible for consolidating his training and putting some ‘miles on the clock’ by expanding his experience so he can progress further.” GMP has 30 police horses who can be seen on streets across the whole of the region.
