Irlam anti-social watch, March
Residents in Salford can feel safer in their neighbourhood after police took action, following concerns about anti-social behaviour in their area.

During a two-week period in March, officers conducted outdoor team briefings in hotspot areas in Irlam to help reassure the community, took part in drug warrants, stop & searches and seized a large amount of alcohol.

Members of the community filled out the latest neighbourhood survey, which measures public confidence and gives residents the chance to tell officers what they feel should be a priority in their area.

And after gathering the survey responses, officers from Salford South Neighbourhood Policing Team took part in Operation Backlash, aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour and drug abuse.

PC Tom Leyden from Greater Manchester Police’s Salford South Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “It was clear from the survey responses we received from Irlam residents that they were concerned about anti-social behaviour and drug use in the area. However, the recent activity has helped send out the message that such actions will not be tolerated by the community or police.

“The neighbourhood surveys are an ideal way to let us know how you want your area policed, whether we are doing a good job and what concerns you and your family have about the area you live in. Our actions will help improve your lives and aid our work towards the Policing Pledge. The next survey is due to be issued soon and I urge everyone to fill it in and have their say.”
