GMP Vidcast April 2010
by Tom Rodgers

Superintendent David Wilkinson at the Swinton station talks us through the police priorities this month, which include calling for the community's help in the Valley Estate, Swinton, and keeping people informed about the legal party drug Mephedrone.

Superintendent David Wilkinson talks to SalfordOnline every month about the issues his officers and the community currently face.

David is keen to stress that incidents like theft, threats and the recent racially-motivated attacks on the Valley Estate in Swinton which led to the arrest of five teenagers will not escape the attention of the police, and asks again that more information is needed from the community to help police identify wrongdoers.

He also separates truth from fiction about the "legal high" Mephodrone (M-Cat, Meow, Drone) which recently hit the headlines after being linked with several deaths amongst young people.

Superintendent Wilkinson informs us that in its latest annual figures GMP achieved an overall drop in crime stats by 15.4%, including in burglary, street robbery and violent crime.
