Police encourage healthy lifestyles at sporting taster day
Officers from Greater Manchester Police are helping recruit the future of the force at a sporting taster day in Salford.

Members of the Salford South Neighbourhood Policing Team will be offering words of encouragement and talking to children about the work they do at an event ran by Salford City Reds Rugby League club, Winton Cricket club and Salford Council’s Sports Development.

Young people will also get the chance to try their hand at playing rugby, cricket and have a go of a mini assault course at Winton Park. Salford Reds will have their own careers advice officers available to speak to those interested in a career in professional sport.

The taster day will take place on 26 July between 2pm and 4pm with other activity days set for 2, 9, 16 and 23 August at the same times.

Police community support officer (PCSO) Nigel Kirk, who has helped arrange the event, said: “The taster day is an ideal way for young people to get to know their local police officer as well as taking part in a healthy and fun activity. I am confident they will get a lot out of the day and we look forward to meeting the next generation of sporting stars.”
