Salford Royal calls on you to give the gift of time
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust works hard to ensure the care it provides is always respectful and dignified to all and is calling on the people of Salford to dedicate 25 February to support Dignity Action Day. Dignity Action Day is part of Dignity Awareness Week with events planned up and down the country. This dedicated week aims to ensure people in care are treated as individuals, are given choice, control and a sense of purpose in their daily lives and are provided with stimulating activities. To mark the occasion, Salford Royal is hosting a range of activities throughout the week commencing the 22 February 2010. On Thursday 25 February, a more formal event will be delivered alongside an opportunity for people to find out more about what the Trust is doing to ensure all patients are cared for with dignity, and includes the launch of the Dignity Declaration; where every staff member at the Trust will be signing a declaration to guarantee they will behave in a manner consistent with the Dignity in Care Challenge. There will also be the chance to chat with staff and discover how you can give the gift of time to maintain dignity for all. Elaine Inglesby, Executive Nurse Director at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust said: “It would be fantastic to see the Salford community getting involved with Dignity Action Day in some way. “We endeavour to treat everyone with dignity when they attend Salford Royal, but we need your help to make sure everyone in your community is also treated with the dignity they deserve.” From helping an older neighbour with their shopping, to providing legal advice for a local charity, you can make a vital contribution by volunteering some of your time during Dignity Action Day and beyond. Please come along to see how you can get involved on Thursday 25 February from 10am, Humphrey Booth Lecture Theatre, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, Stott Lane, Salford M6 8HD.
