Melanie Sirotkin: Salford's new Director of Public Health

Ms Sirotkin, who is a joint appointment between NHS Salford and Salford City Council, was formerly Director of Public Health and Health Strategy and also Deputy Chief Executive at NHS Tameside and Glossop.

A former teacher, she has a 10-year background in public health, starting off as one of the first non-medical public health associates in the North West.

She replaces Dr Julie Higgins who is now Chief Executive at NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.

Ms Sirotkin said: “I've really enjoyed making a contribution to improving health and wellbeing in Tameside and Glossop but the time for a fresh challenge has come. I'm really looking forward to taking up the post in Salford and working to meet the public health challenges ahead.”

NHS Salford Chief Executive Dr Mike Burrows said: “Melanie brings a wealth of experience including tackling health inequalities and establishing new and innovative models of working to improve health outcomes. Colleagues at NHS Salford and the City Council are looking forward to welcoming her into her new role.”
