The Christie Hospital in Manchester is looking for a Salford governor.

You need to complete a form with 100 words stating why you want to be a governor, and have your nomination supported by two people living in Salford.

Applicants have to complete the form on paper, faxed or emailed versions will not be accepted.

The Christie in Manchester is most celebrated for its outstanding cancer care.

It is regularly chosen by local people wanting to raise money for a worthy charity, and recently the Salford Advertiser attempted to raise £250,000 to support the great work going on there.

Governors tend to be former patients or carers, but can come from any walk of life, be it from business or voluntary work.

It gives you the opportunity to influence hospital policy and make the service better for the local community.

No specific training is required, but it's generally helpful if you have experience attending meetings and can give short presentations.

A nomination form to stand for election for the position of Salford governor can be
obtained from Election Reform Services (ERS) at the address shown below.

You can supply a photograph with your nomination form.

All nomination papers should be received by the Returning Officer, Caroline Hinchcliffe,
at the address as detailed below, by noon on Friday 9 July.

Please post your nomination forms to:
