Miller Homes has won the Regeneration Award, at the prestigious North West Business Insider Property Awards, for its Unity Quarter development in Salford. The annual awards event, held this year at Manchester Central, is the region’s largest property dinner and was attended by over 850 people. The event, which was the tenth anniversary of the awards, was compéred by Carol Smillie.
Miller Homes’ Unity Quarter development impressed the judges because of its social and economic regenerative qualities and the improvements to the community as a whole. Unity Quarter is a housing-led regeneration project, which will deliver up to 2,500 new homes over ten years.
Unity Quarter is the first phase of the regeneration project for the Charlestown and Lower Kersal areas. It is a joint venture with Miller Homes, Miller Regeneration and Inspired Developments. The development is the result of a partnership with Charlestown and Lower Kersal New Deal for Communities, Salford City Council and Contour Housing Group.
Sue Warwick, Managing Director, Miller Homes North West, says: ”We are thrilled to receive this award. We are very proud of the work we are doing at Unity Quarter. The development has provided the opportunity to deliver many innovative ideas; including “Homezones” that integrate the street with the house and provides a pedestrian friendly, shared surface for access and informal children’s play. There is also a large choice of homes from to suit all lifestyles and with a village green at its heart it really is the place to be.”
Tim Field, Chief Executive, NDC, says: “We are pleased that the hard work of Miller, the NDC Partnership and our local residents has been recognized with this prestigious award. We selected Miller Homes as our developer partner for the creation of over 2,000 new homes to help regenerate the area. Members of the community were also involved in the process of choosing Miller Homes and in the masterplanning for the final scheme.”
