Barton Village history project
What does Barton Village and Coronation Street have in common?
A Golden Anniversary! City West Housing are asking for people to get involved with a history project of the Barton area, details below. From the investment work programme a fantastic project has been brought to life just like the buildings Cawdor, Engels, Enfield and Wade did 50 years ago in 1960. We need local people of all ages to get involved in all different areas of the history project from being part of a group to take forward the project, interviewing local residents, bringing old photographs, helping with research and simply telling us your story. You do not have to be living there now or have ever lived there. As long has you have a passion for history and are willing to give some spare time, you are welcome to become part of the group. Be part of it and help bring people together as better neighbourhoods create communities come to our first meeting on Wednesday 8th September 2010, 6pm at Barton Village Community Centre. The Steering Group will shape the application for Heritage Lottery Funding with ideas to create a scrapbook, interactive DVD and incorporating information into the village.
