Higher Broughton: plans for 80 new houses
by Mark Bright
Salford Council has received plans for scores of new homes in Higher Broughton. The 80 'high specification' houses will be three, four and five bedroom properties between Bury New Road and Northumberland Street, say the company planning to build them. Countryside Properties will build the properties if the plans are passed through Salford's council's planning office. This seems likely, considering the Higher Broughton Partnership is made up of "regeneration specialist" Sigma Inpartnership Ltd and Salford City Council, with funding from the taxpayer-owned Royal Bank of Scotland. The HBP have committed to work across the six-acre site with three GP surgeries, a dental practice, pharmacy, optician and Tesco Express store. The plans will cost £9m in total. Director of Sigma Inpartnership Graeme Hogg said: “It is particularly encouraging that we are building this kind of momentum in the worst of economic times." Leader of Salford City Council, Cllr John Merry, said: "[This] represents another great milestone in a flagship regeneration scheme for our city.” Due to problems with spam only SalfordOnline members can now leave comments.
