City West has a number of ways to help customers find out how Welfare Reform will affect them. From April 2013, the Welfare Reform Act introduces a new Size Criteria or ‘bedroom tax’ for working age claimants in the social rented sector as well as a limit on the total amount of benefit a household can receive.
Additionally, Disability Living Allowance (DLA) is being scrapped with a new benefit, Personal Independence Payment being introduced that fewer existing DLA claimants will qualify for.
Towards the end of 2013, the new Universal Credit will replace most existing benefits for working age people and change the way tenants receive benefit; in most cases, removing the option of having benefits paid direct to landlords.
City West’s Money Advisors can help customers manage their money and ensure they are receiving all the benefits they are entitled to. Our new online Welfare Benefit Calculator allows customers to calculate the benefits they’re entitled to. Find out more about their Money Advisors on their Money Advice page.
They also have a Bedroom Tax Calculator which customers can use to understand the impact of the changes to Housing Benefit. Their dedicated Welfare Reform page gives customers all the information they need and the organisations they can contact for more help and advice.
They will continue to keep customers updated on the ways they can help you prepare for the reforms.
