Keep burglars out this summer
Salford Community Safety Partnership are urging residents to lock up and keep burglars out this summer. Crime statistics for Greater Manchester show that one in three burglaries occur as a result of windows and doors being left open and unlocked. With rising temperatures we are urging all Salford residents to close and lock their doors and windows when they leave the room or go out. Our top tips for securing your home this summer are: Always lock your doors and make sure keys are moved away from the door to prevent burglars using a hook and cane to reach them through the letterbox. On warm nights don’t leave accessible windows open while you are sleeping. Don’t leave tools lying around your garden as these can be used to force open windows and doors. Always lock them away in a secure shed or garage. Think about joining or setting up a Home Watch scheme which will monitor suspicious activity in the neighbourhood.
