Mexico prepares to celebrates Carnival
As we prepare to shiver our way through the coming months Mexico is preparing to celebrate Mardi Gras, Spanish style.

Building up to Ash Wednesday, on Feb. 22, revelers flock to various cities throughout Mexico to attend parades, parties, concerts and culinary festivals. In Mexico, residents begin the bacchanalian festivities with the burning of El Mal Humor (Bad Mood), which is usually a symbol of a current unpopular politician. As the celebrations culminate on Mardi Gras (literally translated it means Fat Tuesday), there is yet another burning known as “Juan Carnaval.” This symbolizes everything that is impure and represents a fresh beginning for Lent, a 40-day period of fasting before Easter.
