Helping Hands for Salford elderly
There are large numbers of people who suffer illness and death when we are hit by extreme weather conditions in this country.

In order to reduce the levels of illness and death over the winter Age Concern Salford and Helping Hands will be working collaboratively to meet the needs of vulnerable people in the city.

Service provision will include shopping for food, warm clothes, blankets, temporary heaters, grit/rock salt delivery and spreading, draft-proofing, home safety checks, boiler checks, contacting friends, relatives and carers.

If boilers breakdown they will be able to arrange for a heating engineer to call out to check the boiler.

There will be staff and volunteers on the ground working in neighbourhoods so that there is a quick response if the weather takes a turn for the worse.

If you know someone who might benefit phone 0161 793 9419

A whole range of person centred services will be provided by these organisations during cold periods. If you are aware of any older vulnerable people please contact Helping Hands / Age Concern Salford.
