Irlam main road closed after heavy storm

Salford was hit by torrential rain storms today causing traffic chaos throughout the city, with many main roads being flooded.

Social networking sites were filled with stories of gardens being flooded, road closures, even a roof collapse.

GMP for Cadishead and Irlam reported that the main Liverpool Road through Irlam was closed due to severe flooding at the Irlam train station underpass and will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
