Salford sex attacker flees to Singapore

On 21st November it was reported that a 37-year old woman had been sexually assaulted on the A580 East Lancs Road, near the alley way leading to Sheringham Drive.

Shortly after 5am the woman was riding her bike past the Total garage from Salford towards Manchester when she was attacked, a resident heard her screams and the man ran off down the alleyway.

A week later an appeal was launched for information, and police released photographs of the suspect, a 50-55 year old white man, who still has not been named by police.

Acting on information received from the public, police raided a house in Salford but found it empty, with the suspected sex attacker apparently on a plane to Singapore.

Det Chief Insp Jon Chadwick, said: "He was on a plane to Singapore but we do not know if he has continued on to another country.

"If he can be located it is up to the authorities in Singapore to detain him and return him - but they don't have to do that.

"We have alerted Interpol but so far we have had no response. If he can be found we would have to apply for an extradition warrant which could be very time-consuming."

The man was clean-shaven and was wearing a black waist-length jacket with reflective patches on the upper arms, black gloves, and black trousers. It is believed he bought a packet a cigarettes at the Total garage early on Friday morning just prior to assaulting the woman.
