Barbara Keeley MP on Peel Holdings and Forest Parkby Tom Rodgers
MP for Worsley, Barbara Keeley, talks about Peel Holdings and their massive development planned for the Worsley and Boothstown area of the city, the Forest Park. It's a hugely controversial issue, as the traffic plans for the already very busy Junction 13 of the M60, do not appear to be realistic and could further hamper local people's quality of life. Peel Holdings, as Barbara states, are already building MediaCityUK, put up the money for the Imperial War Museum, own the Trafford Centre along with local airports and most of the Bridgewater Canal, and as reported on Salfordonline, are planning a 31,000 sq ft Canal museum, the Salford City Reds stadium at Barton, and the 2,000 acre Forest Park. We ask, as Peel owns more and more of Salford, does it get harder and harder to turn down their applications? Do they have too much influence in Salford? Karen Garrido, councillor for Worsley and chair of Residents Against Greenbelt Erosion (RAGE) has already spoken out on SalfordOnline on the issue, along with Cllr Iain Lindley, conservative councillor for Walkden.
