Deputy Leader of Commons - Barbara Keeley MP - Part 3 of 5

The third video in our series looking at the new Deputy Leader of the House of Commons - Worsley MP Barbara Keeley.

In this session we discuss the processes of local government, the casework Ms Keeley has been working on, including taking Salfordians down to Westminster, and how to ensure community engagement in politics by making people understand that their voice really does mean something.

It's easy enough to moan about changes taking place in Salford that you don't feel you've been consulted on, for example, the M60 widening project which will no doubt cause more noise, dirt, dust and danger for those families living nearby.

It's easy enough to complain about it to your friends, but taking the time to go along to the public meetings, contact your MP to take your case to Westminster, that takes more effort. But it's worth it if it produces a result.

Following Ms Keeley's meeting with the Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon, it looks as though the widening project will now be put on the back burner.
