Green Lane Eco Incinerator Protest Group to hold meeting
By: Tony Flynn

Protesters from the Say No To Green Lane Incinerator Group will be holding a public meeting at The Queens Arms public house, Green Lane, Eccles this Saturday 9th January at 2pm.

The protest group will be voicing their concerns about the eco-incinerator scheduled to be built on the disused Mitchell and Shackleton factory site by the Sky Property group.

They say that it will bring health risks from exposure to waste products, environmental smells from the transported waste, rodent problems, lower property values, and increased traffic problems with trucks carrying an estimated 800 tonnes per day of waste, including rotting food passing residential houses.

Salford MP Hazel Blears will be in attendance to answer questions and discuss the situation with concerned residents and members of the protest group.

I'll be at the meeting; I'm opposed to the incinerator. As I understand it this meeting is actually to be hosted by Hazel Blears so presumably she'll have quite a lot to say.
