Salford Facebook group to get the lads a pintBy: Tony Flynn A Facebook campaign has been set up by a Salford filmmaker to try to get a free pint for every British soldier returning from Afghanistan. Mark Ashmore, who runs FutureArtists.co.uk at Islington Mill, decided to start the group after researching British attitudes to soldiers for his upcoming film, Big Boys Don't Send Postcards - about our soldiers and their families currently fighting in Afghanistan. The feature film is being written by those that have served and the families left behind, and aims to be a true account of the Afghan war. Mark assures us that all soldiers returning from the frontline should be given a free pint of beer or lager, with a free pint of orange squash if they are practicing Muslims! Mark calls it "a nice British way to say we care, so start campaigning, if you are a landlord or work in a pub, give em a free pint, do your bit, if you like drinking in pubs and bars then buy a soldier a beer."
