HRH Prince Charles in Salford today
by Tom RodgersHis Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is visiting Salford Lads' Club today as part of a tour of Manchester and Salford.
The roads near the Lads Club, like Regent Square and Coronation Street, betray the regal heritage of the Ordsall area.
His itinerary takes in the famous meeting place on St Ignatius Walk, ironically where The Smiths' iconic sleeve photograph for The Queen Is Dead was taken.
Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall will meet a samba drumming class at Salford Lads Club, and 15 local schools, including St Joeseph's, will also be bussed into Ordsall to meet them.
His Royal Highness will also visit the other famous Coronation Street at the ITV Granada studios on Quay Street in Manchester, as well as the Museum of Science and Industry in Castlefield.
When we arrived in Ordsall this morning security was already tight, with Special Branch police rumoured to be taking up various positions outside the club.
Video footage of Prince Charles arriving will follow later today.
