Haven Holidaymakers in Salford help to raise £25,000 for the NSPCC
Haven holidaymakers from Salford have helped to raise a massive £25,000 for the NSPCC after a bumper season of fundraising at Haven Holiday parks across the UKThe money was raised throughout last year by Haven’s 6,000 staff, as well as owners and holiday makers from across their 35 holiday parks.
Alex Hanson, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager said: “Haven’s team didn’t disappoint and certainly put the fun into fundraising for the NSPCC.
“They helped to organise a number of sponsored events including chest waxes, bike rides, walks and even a sponsored silence. Their karaoke competitions, bucket collections, raffles and tombolas meant that everyone could play a part in helping to end cruelty to children by donating to the NSPCC.”
The money will support the NSPCC’s vital helpline services which include ChildLine and the NSPCC Helpline, for adults who are concerned about the welfare or wellbeing of a child.
John Dunford, Managing Director at Haven said, ‘We are delighted to support our team members in their charity fundraising activities. They are the ones who do all the hard work to generate so much support from our owners and guests.”
Haven’s support for the NSPCC will mean the charity’s helplines can offer advice and support for children across the UK.
· £4 could ensure that, when a child plucks up the courage to ask someone for help, we are there to answer their call.
· £42 could pay for a child who may have nowhere else to turn to receive confidential, one to one counselling about any issue that’s important to them.
· £180 could pay a trained practitioner to deliver one day of support through the NSPCC Helpline.
· £864 could pay for a night shift worker for one week so that we can support the vulnerable children who phone ChildLine.
Alex collected the cheque for £25,000 from John Dunford at Haven Holiday’s head office in Hemel Hempstead.
The Haven Holidays team raised a significant amount of money for charity in 2009 of which £25,000 will be given to the NSPCC, £25,000 to the Children’s Trust and the balance to local charities that are nominated by Haven employees.
