Memorial for Corontion Street star Maggie Jones

The stars of Coronation Street and the general public turned out in force at Salford Cathedral for a memorial service for Maggie Jones, better known as Blanche.

Amongst the stars who attended were Anthony Cotton, William Roache, Anne Kirkbride, Sue Nicholls, Craig Gazey, Michael Le Velle, Craig Charles, Tupele Dorgu, Roy Hudd, Peter Armitage, Jack Shepherd, Alan Halsall, Chris Gascoyne, Andrew Whyment, and the original writer Tony Warren.

There was a bible reading from Anne Kirkbride from the Book of Wisdom, Sue Nicholls recited, "If I should go.." by Joyce Grenfell, Anthony Cotton sang, "I'm Free" by Linda Jo Jackson, William Roache then gave the packed cathedral his memories of Blanche.

Jon Christos and Jenny Williams sang the duet, "You raise me up" to a sombre but appreciative congregation.
