Ordsall Community Cafe is 5
by Tom Rodgers
On Saturday 26 June, Ordsall Community Cafe will play host to local entertainers to help celebrate its 5th birthday. When SalfordOnline went down to look at the Tatton Street Cafe, off St Ignatius walk in central Ordsall, we were astonished to find that it doubles as not only a meeting place but a cheap hairdressers, an expert relaxation massage centre, a creche, an after school club and a quiet place to think amongst many other things. So we urge you to go along and show your support for this fantastic community resource on 26 June. On show will be children's entertainment and comedy, alongside close up magic and a BMX stunt rider of all things. The idea for the independent cafe came up nearly eleven years ago, and it took six years to get the premises and bring everyone together to make the place work. On hand are yoga classes, guitar lessons, language lessons, drama groups, video editing computers and more, all at very reasonable prices and aiming to be as inclusive as possible. The event will run from 12pm to 3pm, and the lovely Stacy Cass will no doubt be on hand to make you feel welcome and feed you up if you're looking suitably hungry.
