Posted by Editor on 20th August 2010 at 06:21 PM Video: Letters from America - Eccleston fans raise money for Salford Christie
by Tom Rodgers
TeamEcclesNut are a group of Christopher Eccleston fans from all over the world. We got in touch with one another via the videos SalfordOnline shot recently with Mr Eccleston, when it became clear that these 7,000 members wanted to raise money for the Salford Christie radiotherapy centre.
I personally think it's a great way to take a shared love of one man, and put it to some good use by supporting the Christie.
Chris has spoken publicly about his support for this vital medical centre, and the Team have all been touched in one way or another by cancer, so decided to help out the city of Salford in their own way.
Ruth Maguire is originally from the UK but now lives on the west coast of America, and we decided to support her fundraising efforts by allowing her to introduce her campaign on SalfordOnline.
TeamEcclesNut have so far rasied £825 from their various fundraising bids, and hope to keep raising the bar as regards a final total.

Such a lovely way to show a random group of Ecclesnuts a way to express compassion for others. |

Ruth has been a very brave young lady in doing this interview, of which I doubt very much that some of you would have the guts to do yourselves. Ruth is a very caring young woman who has worked very hard at raising money for the Christie and I applaud her and Louise for their efforts, I have yet to donate but I will do so based on the fact that this is a very wise cause and that Ruth has had the guts to do this interview and not the fact that I am a chris Ecclestone fan of which to be honest I am not (sorry Chris). Now enough of the wise cracks over the length of the interview and put your hands in your pockets and donate to TeamEcclesNut.

My name is Louise; I help Ruth over on the fan page. This project was always Ruth's baby, she has worked tirelessly to promote and raise funds for the hospital in your area. We thought we could do something constructive and could achieve something unique with a simple fan page. And to those who were less than constructive please bear in mind why this fund was set up, it was to fundraise for a hospital in your area and all you are concerned with is the duration of a video? Thank you to those who support our efforts and to Salford Online for highlighting what we are trying to do. |

I'm an Ecclesnut from the US and I have found Ruth and Lou's (moderators of the Facebook page) ongoing enthusiasm for this cause inspiring. I've been unemployed for more than 2.5 years, so I can't give to as many charitable causes as I would like. But the zeal of these two ladies and the many Ecclesnuts who are the most vocal in their support of The Christie have spurred me to give the little bit I could. I found Ruth's video charming and I think she did quite a good job of it. I'd like to offer a round of applause to her and to SalfordOnline for covering Team Ecclesnut's efforts on behalf of this campaign. |

How lovely that you raise and support a charity using a fan group. Beautiful job! |

I'm sorry if people found this too long, but I simply answered the questions and assumed it would be edited down to what was needed. I'm not a pro here! We are simply trying to use our fan page for a good cause, to raise money for your city. Ruth. |

Tony? You must be joking. In the office he still writes with a wax tablet. But duly noted guys, over the weekend I'll cut another version. |
